Oh, the Places You'll Go!

I was given this Dr. Suess book on the day of high school graduation. My counselor gave it to me. I’m from a very small town; there were only sixty-five people in my class, and since I’ve lived there my entire life, I’m close to a lot of people there. My counselor is included in that. This book is a children’s book, but it had everything to do with me as an eighteen-year-old girl not ready to leave her parents at home to go to huge Texas A&M that is full of strangers. I can see myself reading this story as an eight-year-old and enjoying it very much, especially the funny pictures. I might would apply it to my future life a little bit, but it would probably only go so far as middle school, where there were two whole halls and I would have a locker instead of a cubby! As I read it on graduation day, however, I was only thinking of the “Bang-ups and Hang-ups” that I was sure were going to happen to me every day of my college career. To be sure, it hasn’t been perfect, but I have had fun and I’ve learned a lot. Dr. Suess was right! Now that I’m done with the first semester of college, I have the rest of my life to take on!
