Colorado Wonderland
Over spring break I went to Winter Park, Colorado to go skiing. As much as I wanted to keep my thoughts away from anything school related, I just couldn’t do it! This wasn’t bad at all though, because it was the names of the trails on the mountain that kept reminding me of my favorite Children’s Lit class. The names included Jabberwocky, March Hare, White Rabbit, Mad Hatter, Mock Turtle, Mad Tea Party, Tweedle Dee, and Cheshire Cat. Sometimes I did feel like I was in a Wonderland of my own. There were trees everywhere and very few people. It was not unusual for my group to go down a trail and never see anyone else. Sometimes I would go on my own little trail off the main trail to where it was completely silent and all I could see was snow and the tall cedar trees covered in snow. Nothing worked in those places the way they are supposed to where I come from. I couldn’t walk properly and I moved much more quickly than I’m used to. I also lost my breath much more quickly in Colorado than in Texas. It all quickly came to an end when I got on the bus to come home. Now all I have is a memory of the wonderland.
