Enchanted

Last night I watched the movie, Enchanted. It was wonderful! I think that it should be shown in class. It has everything that we’ve talked about in class about fairytales. At the very beginning, Giselle, the princess and main character, lives in a dream world where everything is perfect; she has a perfect attitude, body, hair, animal friends, and singing voice. When she by chance falls into the lap of her Prince Edward, they are to be married the next morning. She is then thrown into the world as we know it by Prince Edward’s evil stepmother. Through getting used to our world, she gains strength and learns how to become angry instead of just unhappy. She also gets her Prince Charming, but he’s not the typical fairytale material. This movie shows all the characteristics of the fairytales that feminists hate, but they would love this because she learns how to work through difficulties and can think for herself in the end.
